Overnight Guatape

2 Days

Guatape is probably the most touristic town in Colombia. It is famous for a number of things, but mainly El Penol, the world’s third largest rock which you can climb via stairs. There is a shop and little restaurant at the top. Lakes here are man-made, and I believe the largest reservoir in Colombia. It is also famous for a street of umbrellas which you can see in the gallery. Here, there are a plethora of things to do such as take boat rides, swim in hotel pools, eat at a variety of restaurants, walk on the boardwalk by the lake, jetski, and more. On our route to Guatape, we will see 2 waterfalls, one in Santa Elena and another in Santuario. Once in Guatape, we will take a boat ride, have lunch, climb the rock, and enjoy the city. You will get a choice of climbing the rock on Day 1 or Day 2. On Day 2 we will have breakfast at our hotel, visit Guatape again and journey to Retiro to see another waterfall. After spending some time here, we will return to Bello, Medellin

Overview

We will see a total of 3 waterfalls, 2 waterfalls on Day 1, and the final waterfall on Day 2. You will spend the night in an awesome hotel with excellent service and good food for one night in Guatape. You will ride a boat along the reservoirs of Guatape listening to a history of Pablo Escobar. You will be able to visit the center of Guatape and take photos under umbrellas on its most famous street. You can shop if you want as well. You will swim in a nice pool at the hotel and of course climb EL Penol.

Is this trip good for Kids?

You can definitely bring your kids. It may be difficult to climb the rock, but we have seen a few 3-year-olds climb it without issue. They will enjoy the pool at the hotel. There is a decent size playground that kids can enjoy that we can show you.

Is climbing El Penol difficult?

It depends on if you are in good or bad shape. If you have a really bad back or are pregnant, we definitely do not recommend it.

Is climbing El Penol safe?

Absolutely. Even if you are scared of heights, the walls that enclose the stairs are very high. The stairs are wide and extremely steady. Hundreds of people climb this rock daily.

If I am tired, can I stop during the climb?

Yes, of course, you can take as much time as you need to climb the rock.

Can we swim at the waterfalls?

With this trip, there is no swimming at any waterfall; these are for photo opportunities. However, you will have plenty of time to swim in a pool at the hotel.

I have a large group, can I get a discount?
